Hole No. 18
Plantation Course
Par 5 - 494 yards

The risk-reward options on this tight, downhill dogleg right can produce a dramatic finish to anyone’s round.  The elevated tees introduce the first choice: Hug the corner, where two fairway bunkers loom, or veer more safely to a flared landing area on the left.  Reaching the green with the second shot is realistic, but complicated considerably by a large pond on the front right that reaches across about 10 yards in front of the green.  A wide lay-up area is a conservative, yet sensible decision that leaves a short pitch to a long, deep green.  The alluring greenside waterfall was added during the 2005 renovation.

Tip:  “It’s a fun and fair finishing hole that has some excitement to it,” says Plantation Course Head Professional Ryan MacNeill.  “It’s one my favorite holes on the entire lake because of the way it flows along the lay of the land.  It’s short and open, so there are a lot of birdies and eagles there.  But it can sneak up and get you if you are not paying attention.  The pond is visible on your second shot, so that’s in the back of your mind.  We’ve had some 2s there – and some 8s and 9s, as well.  ”
